Pastels, plastic grass and chocolate bunnies not your cup of tea? Lucky for you, we're offering another way to spend your holiday (no Easter basket required). A pleasant route offering some hills, some views, partly paved and partly graveled plus a stop at the Hunter's Head Tavern in Upperville for brunch and a beverage for those wishing to partake in a pub stop before slowly pedaling for home. This will be a "relaxed" conversational pace, but due to the mileage, we'll still have to keep the pedals turning if we want to be home before the 4th of July.
RSVP requested for brunch, if you please.
"The disclaimer": The route will traverse both hill and dale. Roughly 50% gravel, 50% pavement, one or two short steep climbs possible, long rolling hills and a short stretch on the shoulder of Highway 50. Likely elevation gain: 3-3,500'. We will do everything possible to stick to quiet roads, but there will be interaction with vehicular traffic. You will be riding at your own risk.
"The fine print": This is a moderate pace ride (on a scale of mild, moderate, challenging or advanced) with opportunities to stretch your legs up hills and regroup at major intersections, though not a ride suitable for beginners or those without gravel experience. CX or road bikes with gravel-tires recommended. No hybrids, sorry. If you have questions, please call and we can discuss the details.
All of our rides are "no-drop". No one gets left behind, BUT please respect your fellow riders by understanding your abilities and limits. Bring a rain proof outer layer just in case of cold weather or rain (it's early April after all) and bring water and snacks. Both will be available at the shop. Coffee offered before the ride.
