"Centuria Cyclista" Women's Century Training Series

You've done it! You've signed up for your first century ride. Great. Now what? Now you ride. And ride. And ride. You can do it solo, or you can join other women with the same goal as they train for their first (or second or tenth) 100-mile bicycle ride.

As daunting as it may sound, riding 100 miles and beyond is an easily attainable goal. Join us as we start slow, just 30 miles for the first ride, then each month during the summer we'll add more mileage until we reach 100. One ride a month, increasing in distance, gives you plenty of time to do your "cycling homework" and slowly add mileage to your weekly saddle time. We'll ride in a small group, no-drop, on roads offering a variety of terrain including long rises, steep climbs, descents, turns and possibly rough roads (and gravel by request), so you'll have the tools to negotiate anything a century ride might present. You'll also have the opportunity to learn important skills like group riding, drafting, descending, pace lines as well as proper hydration and nutrition to keep you fueled and fit for the distance. In addition, flat repair and basic roadside maintenance will be covered.

Ride details will be posted (updated) on our FB site, but if you have any questions please contact us at the shop ~ 540-216-2453. RSVP appreciated. The schedule is as follows:

Saturdays 5/23 @ 8am (30 miles + coaching session), 6/13 @ 8am (50 miles + coaching session), 7/18 @ 7am (65 miles) and 8/15 @ 7am (100 miles).

The rides are "no-drop". No one gets left behind, BUT please respect your fellow riders by understanding your abilities and limits. No route maps will be given as these rides are intended to be negotiated as a group. We start together and finish together. Road bicycles only, please. We have a few sizes available as rentals. If you are bringing your TT bike, please remove the aero bars for the safety of the group. Come prepared with a rain-layer (we will ride rain or shine) and bring water and snacks. Both will be available at the shop. Complimentary drip coffee offered before and after the ride for series participants. Special edition t-shirts will be available for purchase, so be sure to mention if you would like to order one and in what size.

Contact the shop for additional details.
